The historic Gidan Kuli groundnut oil mill in the state’s Kankia Local Government Area has been renovated, according to Katsina governor Dikko Radda.

In a short while, the resurrected Gidan Kuli groundnut oil mill will start operating in full, generating over 500 direct and indirect jobs and strengthening the local economy.

The entire overhaul, which included updating outdated equipment, purchasing new equipment, building administrative blocks, shops, and perimeter fencing, was carried out by The Katsina Youth Craft Village (KYCV).

Governor Radda argued in a statement regarding this development that the facility represents more than just economic infrastructure because it embodies the state’s commitment to restoring its agricultural heritage.

The Governor reaffirmed that the revival perfectly aligns with the government’s plan for economic diversification in a statement released on Saturday by Ibrahim Mohammed, his top press secretary.

He claimed that the governor’s consent to the extensive renovation, which is overseen by the Ministry of Women Affairs, has transformed the 1992-established facility into a cutting-edge groundnut processing facility.

We are determined to reclaim the legacy that groundnut production once left for our farmers and business owners.

By restoring this processing facility, we are establishing a foundation for value-added agricultural products that can compete both nationally and internationally. We do so by guaranteeing a market for our groundnut farmers.
