Zara McDermott takes ‘swipe’ at ex Sam Thompson as she reveals relationship ‘fault’

Zara McDermott may have made a brutal dig at her ex-boyfriend Sam Thompson in a new video.

The former Love Island star shared a video of herself singing on Instagram, showing off her incredible vocals. Zara, 28, is currently in the middle of a month-long trip to Thailand, and filmed herself in the bathroom of her hotel.

Zara was dressed for the tropical weather, sporting a floral wrap skirt and a tight white tank top, with her hair loose. Alongside the singing clip, she wrote: “Obsessed with Billie Eilish at the moment. I always get a bit nervous posting anything singing related… singing in front of people is still my biggest fear lol. I wish I could get over it!”

The star’s song choice, however, could be very telling. Zara sang L’Amour de Ma Vie by Billie Eilish, and only filmed a certain section with damning lyrics.

“It’s not my fault, I did what I could. You made it so hard like I knew you would,” she sang at the beginning of the video, and ended: “Because for you, I was the love of your life. But you were not mine.”

News of Zara’s split from Sam emerged at the very beginning of this year, after the duo appeared to spend Christmas apart despite living with each other at the time.

An insider close to the former couple opened up about why Zara and Sam broke up, and made it clear that a mixture of issues had been plaguing their relationship for a while – despite their break up seeming very sudden to fans.

“Zara never felt like she was the priority with Sam. He always seemed to find someone or something to put before her,” one source told The Sun, with another adding that while Zara loved Sam, there were still issues in their relationship.

“They are both selfish in their own right and want to be successful in business as individuals – but of course that comes at a price,” they said, adding: “Sam is very childish – it’s even become a part of his ‘showbiz persona’ – but Zara feels as though she’s getting older and wants to start being taken more seriously.”

Along with the differing personalities, the insider said Zara and Sam had different life goals, with Zara looking to move onto the next step while Sam was content as things were. They claimed that Zara was keen to start a family soon, while Sam was content to stick with focusing on work for now.

While Zara seemed to make a dig in her new video, Made in Chelsea’s Sam also did during an appearance on the Love Island: The Morning After podcast with Indiyah Polack and Amy Hart.

Sam suggested that he was more than ready to find love again when talking about the ITV show, exclaiming: “I’ve got a question for both of you, then. Because I’ve never been in the villa. Like, I would love to!”
