Young Scooter dies after police chase as cops confirm rapper’s cause of death

Rapper Young Scooter has died aged 39 with police confirming his death was caused by injuries he sustained fleeing officers. The Atlanta-born rapper, whose real name isorn Kenneth Edward Bailey, died after trying to flee from police on his birthday on Friday.
Atlanta Police have explained the incident unfolded in the southeast of the city when officers responded to a 911 call reporting “a dispute with shots fired, and a female being dragged back into the residence”.
Police arriving at the scene said a man opened the door on the cops, but abruptly closed it. Two men then attempted to escape from the premises, it is reported.
One of them, identified as Kenneth, sustained a severe leg injury while jumping over fences during the escape. Despite officers on hand giving aid and the rapper being transported to Grady Hospital, the musician was sadly pronounced dead.
Kenneth was born in Walterboro, South Carolina, and relocated to Atlanta at the age of nine. His pursuit of a rap career began in 2008 after he had facied a drug trafficking charge. He gained prominence in the Atlanta rap scene with his 2013 mixtape Street Lottery, featuring his hit single titled Colombia.
He had collaborated with a number of big artists throughout his career, including Future, Gucci Mane, Lil Wayne and Migos.
The Atlanta Police Department has confirmed no officers discharged their weapons during the incident leading up to Kenneth’s death, and said his injury was self-inflicted during the escape. His exact cause of death remains under investigation.
Following the announcement of his death, tributes poured in online. Among those sending condolences was Waka Flocka Flame, who signed Kenneth to his Brick Squad Monopoly label in 2013.
He expressed his grief on social media, saying: “Street, you had me crying before my show… you the backbone… dama brada”.
Playboi Carti also paid homage to Kenneth, before fans said he was leaving a huge legacy behind. One user on Twitter/X wrote: “Seeing RIP Young Scooter don’t even feel right.”
“Deleted my whole playlist. only young scooter gets played around here”, wrote another following the nws.
The rapper was known for his freestyle approach. He quickly gained a loyal following and his music often reflected on themes of hustling and survival.
