Yobe Govt Reopens Two Markets Shut Down Over Insecurity

The Kukareta and Buniyadi markets, which were recently closed due to insecurity in the area, have been reopened in cooperation with the Yobe state government.

To prevent insurgents from stealing food from the residents who have been terrorizing them in recent months, the markets in the local government areas of Gujba and Damaturu were closed.

The Security Adviser to Governor Mai Mala Buni, Dahiru Abdulsalam, made the disclosure while speaking to reporters at Government House in Damaturu, a meeting of the Deputy Governor, Idi Barde-Gubana.

He said, “I’m happy to inform you that two of the three markets shut down because of insecurity in Kukareta and Buniyadi have been reopened” after reviewing the state’s security situation.

He did point out that any violators found selling Premium Motor Spirit, also known as gasoline, between 6 pm and 6 am daily were still subject to the same prohibition.

Governor Uba Sani also distributes houses to armed conflict victims in Kaduna.

Abdulsalam also stated that the state government would set up a task force to track the herd’s and crop farmers’ encroachment of farmland and cattle routes.
