Chico, a former X Factor contestant, has testified not guilty to drink driving in court. Chico, whose real name is Yousseph Slimani, first appeared on the television talent show in 2005 and later recorded a number one single, It’s Chico Time.
The 54-year-old was charged with drink-driving on December 13 in Southgate’s Chase Way. Willesden Magistrates’ Court heard on Tuesday that Slimani was allegedly driving a Vauxhall Astra while consuming 40 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 milliliters of breath.
Alcohol consumption for driving in England is permitted to be 35 microgrammes per 100 milliliter. Before going on trial on April 9, Simani pleaded not guilty and was released on bail.
