WRU chiefs defend roles amid Welsh rugby revamp

In response to criticism of the Union’s handling of regional restructuring, WRU chair Richard Collier-Keywood and WRU director of rugby Dave Reddin have defended their positions.

Following a six-week consultation process, WRU’s preferred two-team system was abandoned, and it now chooses to reduce the number of professional sides from four to three.

Collier-Keywood once said, “I don’t understand it’s a mess at all. We made a proposal, and we want to change it.

Reddin continued, “I don’t see the mess at all.” Although the transition will not be simple, I am very excited about the future.
