World reacts to US bombing of Venezuela, ‘capture’ of Maduro

Venezuela’s president, President Nicolas Maduro, has been accused by US President Donald Trump of carrying out a “large scale strike” against the country.

Following the operation, which he claimed was carried out “in conjunction with US law enforcement,” Trump claimed in a post on Truth Social that Maduro and his wife had been “captured and flown out of the country.”

Maduro accused the United States of an “extremely serious military aggression” in a statement.

Colombia

Gustavo Petro, the president of Colombia, addressed the world that Venezuela has been attacked in a number of statements made on the social media platform X.

Petro stated that “the Republic of Colombia reiterates its convictions that any form of armed conflict must be tempered by peace, the protection of life, and the protection of human dignity.”

In a separate post, he stated that Colombia “rejects the aggression against Venezuela’s and Latin America’s sovereignty.”

Petro then made the announcement that military forces would be stationed near Venezuela.

Cuba

In a sharply worded tweet condemning Venezuela, President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez accused Washington of carrying out a “criminal attack” against the country and demanded a prompt international response.

Diaz-Canel described the US action as “state terrorism” directed at both Venezuelans and “Our America” in general in a post on X.

The revolutionary phrase, “Homeland or Death, We Shall Overcome,” was used to close the statement.

Havana “denounces the US military attack against Venezuela,” according to a statement posted by various Cuban embassies around the world.

The statement, which refers to the attack as “state terrorism,” also “demands an urgent response from the international community”.

Iran

The Iranian government’s foreign ministry stated in a statement that it “strongly condemns the American military attack on Venezuela and the flagrant violation of the nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

Russia

Moscow expresses deep concern for and condemns a “violent act of armed aggression” committed by the US against Venezuela, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry. In the present situation, it is crucial to stop further escalation and concentrate on finding a resolution through dialogue, the ministry said in a statement.

Without resorting to devastation-causing, military intervention from outside, Venezuela “must be guaranteed the right to determine its own destiny.”

After capturing its leader, Nicolas Maduro, the US has resumed its military operations in Venezuela, according to Republican Senator Mike Lee.
