Tolu Arokodare, a striker for Genk, has been signed for £24 million by Wolves.
The 24-year-old scored 21 goals in the Belgian team’s third-place finish last season, the joint top scorer in the Jupiler League.
Jorgen Strand Larsen will receive additional attacking support from Arokodare as Wolves attempt to keep the Norwegian international at Molineux after rejecting two offers from Newcastle for £50m and £55m.
Arokodare is not seen as a replacement because Boss Vitor Pereira had always desired a replacement for Strand Larsen.
After leaving Latvian side Valmiera in 2023, the Nigerian international has 41 goals in 113 games for Genk.
Josh Brownhill, the midfielder who left Burnley in the summer, is another option for Pereira.
The 29-year-old has spoken with Wolves, who can only sign homegrown players after exceeding their quota for non-homegrown players.
Brownhill scored 18 goals to reclaim Burnley’s Premier League title last season.
