Lottie Woad, 21, is “feeling good” as she enters the final round of the Women’s Scottish Open in search of her second tournament victory.
After a third-round five-under-par 67 at Dundonald Links, the former world number one amateur from Surrey maintained her cushion at the top of the leaderboard.
Woad, who was an amateur at the Irish Open, turned professional last week after finishing just one shot short of Grace Kim’s play-off in the women’s fourth major of the year. She lost out on £400, 000 in prize money.
She said, “I’m excited for the opportunity and have the experience from leading in Ireland and other events that I’ve attended.” “I’m just going to try and use that because I’m feeling better.”
Woad’s lead increased to three shots after her first ten holes when she made a fourth birdie, and after her final two, she went 17 under after making two more shots at the 14th and 17th.
That was two shots better than the impressive 66 from South Korean Sei Young Kim and Danish Nanna Koerstz Madsen.
Hyo Joo Kim, a seven-time LPGA champion, sits one back while Nelly Korda, a world no. 1, is five shots adrift after a bogey-free 70, is a shot further back.
Shannon Tan of Singapore won the 2024 Magical Kenya Ladies Open, the last player to make their professional Ladies European Tour debut.
This feels a little more free now that I have my [LPGA] card, according to Woad, because there was a lot of attention leading up.
