Nigerian stars are once again in the spotlight thanks to the nominations of Wizkid, Rema, Tems, and Asake in the Favourite Afrobeats Artist category.
Tyla, a South African Grammy-winning artist, joins them and was unquestionably positioned as one of Africa’s most promising international acts, in 2023 and 2024.  ,
The first recipient of the Favourite Afrobeats Artist award was Wizkid, a landmark achievement that demonstrated the genre’s global reach when it was first announced in 2022.

The MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, United States, will host the 2025 AMAs on May 26. Fans can watch the ceremony live online, making it accessible to all.
Jennifer Lopez, the actress and singer, will host, making her first appearance on the AMAs stage since 2015. Lopez is also scheduled to play.
Kendrick Lamar will likely have a major role in the AMAs, where he received the most nominations for any artist this year, with an impressive 10 receivings.  ,
The categories include Drake’s ongoing lyrical conflict with fellow rapper Drake, GNX’s album of the year, and Not Like Us’ song of the year.
With three of Lamar’s songs receiving nominations out of five, including those for Future &, Metro Boomin, Not Like Us, and Luther featuring SZA, his dominance continues in the Favourite Hip-Hop Song category.
Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, and Shaboozey each received eight nominations, while Post Malone and Chappell Roan each received seven. Taylor Swift, who has received six nominations, as well as Lady Gaga, SZA, and Bruno Mars, are among the other top contenders.
