Willis to leave Saracens for France at end of season

Tom Willis, the club’s eighth-ranked player, will leave at the end of the season, leaving him for France.

Willis won eight international caps while playing for England at Saracens.

The 26-year-old impressed for England during their summer tour of Argentina and the United States, and Steve Borthwick’s departure to France is a setback.

In order to maintain the strength of the Premiership, the Rugby Football Union chooses players from overseas for England.

Willis, who was born in Reading and has a brother Jack who plays for French club Toulouse, said, “I’ve absolutely loved my time at Saracens and have made some friends for life.”

“I’m very excited about what this squad can accomplish,” I pledged to do all I can for this club the rest of the season.

Willis, who left Bordeaux-Begles for Saracens in January 2023, is expected to reappear according to The Telegraph.

Willis’ desire to leave, according to Saracens rugby director Mark McCall, but he applauded the player’s “decision to pursue a new challenge.”
