The focus for Bournemouth will now be on manager Andoni Iraola, who lost Antoine Semenyo to Manchester City.

The Vitality Stadium’s revolving door has gotten a little too frequently lately for Iraola’s liking.

As the Cherries approach the final weeks of the season, the manager’s own future is likely to become the dominant narrative.

Iraola won’t just pursue the biggest opportunity, it seems.

Since leaving Rayo Vallecano in June 2023, the Spaniard has established a reputable brand.

His current status is far removed from Gary O’Neil’s admirable status, who had won Bournemouth’s place in the Premier League just weeks prior.

The controversial replacement of the well-known O’Neil by the less well-known Iraola was chosen by then sporting director Richard Hughes, but the Spaniard has since redeemed the now-Lesbian executive’s faith.

With a club record of 56 top-flight points, they placed 12th in his first year and ninth in his previous year.

However, Iraola’s current contract expires at the end of the season, which raises questions about his club’s long-term future.

This has been a hot topic on the south coast for the majority of the past year. Bill Foley, the owner of Bournemouth, traveled to England last April to discuss a new contract with Iraola. However, no updates have been forthcoming.

Iraola would be “evaluating all the options,” according to BBC Radio Solent’s Jordan Clark, but fans had hoped he would at least agree to a short-term deal at the end of the season.

However, as the summer approaches, there are various levels of interest from a number of clubs in Iraola.

For instance, sources claim Crystal Palace is one of the organizations looking to find Oliver Glasner’s replacement as they keep track of Iraola’s situation going into the following season.

Some claim that Iraola has the authority to take charge of a club that is historically bigger than Palace.

Perhaps Iraola would find value in moving to south London with the right assurances about shaping the squad with his imprint.

Iraola wants stability, but football is in the running for the summer manager.

Iraola is said to have much more important things in store for it than prestige, and that this is combined with a directive to create a team in his style.

Iraola and his advisers are likely to be monitoring the situation for potential openings.

The managerial market is, of course, very competitive heading into the upcoming season.

Just three of the current available and unemployed are Xabi Alonso, Enzo Maresca, and Ruben Amorim.

Glasner has confirmed that he will leave Palace at the end of the season. Given his situation at Tottenham, Thomas Frank might be able to help.

Additionally, there may be potential job losses for Julian Nagelsmann, Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino, Carlo Ancelotti, and Marco Ancelotti after the World Cup.

Any plans Bournemouth might have to extend Iraola’s contract into another season may benefit from the availability of so many top managers.

However, Iraola might be pondering his options for the Vitality before deciding whether to stay in Bournemouth.

Three of Iraola’s first-choice back four from last season have been sold by Bournemouth in the past two transfer windows: Illia Zabarnyi to Paris St-Germain, Milos Kerkez to Liverpool, and Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid.

Semenyo and Dango Ouattara, both of whom they have sold, are attacking players.

Marco Senesi, the club’s only defense player from last year, is set to leave at the end of the season, according to sources who believe he has no plans to do so.

Bournemouth’s recruitment strategy has been incredibly successful in both buying young and selling big.

Bournemouth made a grand total of £254 million through the five aforementioned transfers.

Dominic Solanke was also sold to Tottenham for £55 million in the summer of 2024.

Junior Eli Kroupi, a teenager striker, is the latest to catch on fire after netting seven goals in eight starts since joining FC Lorient in a deal worth about £12 million.

Although the business model has had a lucrative success, Iraola’s future plans from a sporting perspective remain uncertain.
