Simon Cowell’s red-tinted glasses have had many people scratching their heads.

The music mogul, 64, is no stranger when it comes to having his choice of clothing critiqued. Famed for his blue jeans and white or black sweaters, the dad-of-one is a familiar face to many. However, he’s been testing his image in recent years, choosing to wear suave suits and make interesting eyewear choices.

Simon has previously mentioned that he struggles with a health condition that causes him to experience “laser-like” pain, but his red-tinted glasses make a huge difference. The British television personality behind Britain’s Got Talent has had a number of health issues over the years, most recently one that required extensive surgery after a fall from his bike.

But he also suffers from migraines, a severe headache which causes a throbbing pain or pulsing sensation, often on one side of the head. The condition is often accompanied by sickness, vomiting, extreme sensitivity to light and sound and a stiff neck. Triptans, paracetamol, and other medications are included in the treatment plan.

Simon Cowell’s explanation of why he wears red-tinted glasses (ITV) has been made public.
His appearance has left many scratching their heads in recent years
In recent years, many people have been sceptical of his appearance (FilmMagic).

Simon previously mentioned how his condition and red glasses are related to the fact that “I have lights in my eyes all day long and it’s like a laser and I get migraines, and that’s like a filter.” And they actually do work”. But when quizzed on whether he could be starting a fashion trend, he joked: “I don’t think anyone has ever copied my fashion”.

More than 5.6 million people in England alone suffer from migraines, with around 190, 000 having migraine attacks every day. Triggers can include, anxiety, depression, stress, lack of sleep and too much caffeine. Tonight, Simon returns to Britain’s Got Talent alongside Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno Tonioli, as well as hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.

However, Simon appears to have determined who will win while the live performances are still in the works, adding that “everyone” will gravitate toward one act. When we were discussing the finals this year, he revealed to the Mirror that one person he believed would win, and we went round the room and said who we thought might win.

He went on to add: “It’s going to be interesting. I’m excited for this year, let’s see who the public picks as their winner”.

As Simon lies on the stage with mallets and watermelon bits flying around in the new series, viewers will experience a terrifying moment as crew members must intervene. Speaking about that moment afterwards, he told the Mirror: “It’s that feeling when you kind of think somebody doesn’t want you on the show any more. It was that. It was the closest, genuinely, where I’m thinking ‘ they actually want to kill me’. Because this guy became extremely anxious and shook as he was smashing these watermelons, I swear to God that’s how I felt.

Britain’s Got Talent returns tonight at 7pm on ITV and ITVX.
