Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were seen in the pictures for Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday party – but shortly afterwards they mysteriously disappeared. Here’s why…
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were among the celebs at Kris Jenner’s star-studded 70th birthday bash earlier this week – but why did photos of the couple mysteriously disappear from Instagram?
Kris’ daughter Kim uploaded a series of snaps from the James Bond themed bash that was held at Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos’ Beverly Hills mansion. Huge A-list celebs who made the guest list also included Adele, Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Hailey and Justin Bieber, Snoop Dogg, Serena Williams, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Oprah Winfrey and Paris Hilton. While Bruno Mars is said to have performed at the event.
In photos that now appear to have been deleted, both Meghan and Harry were seen posing for snaps with Kim and birthday girl Kris. The prince wore a classic suit in line with the black tie dress code. And Meghan wowed in a black high neck dress that was split to the thigh, which she accessorised with long gold earrings.
But shortly afterwards the photos disappeared – and now the reason why seems to have been revealed. It’s all to do with the day the photos were posted, November 11, which is Remembrance Day in the UK. The day commemorates fallen servicemen and women who have died in the line of duty since the First World War – and Prince Harry turned up to the glitzy bash wearing a poppy on his suit to mark the occasion.

According to TMZ, the Kardashians felt posting pictures of Meghan and Harry on this significant day in the UK wouldn’t land well in Britain if they kept them up. The outlet reported: “We’re told several images were deleted – not just those of Meghan and Harry.
“Also, considering it was Remembrance Sunday – a day meant to commemorate servicemen and women – in the UK, we’re told they thought it might be better to delete the images rather than push something that could get picked up and misconstrued across the pond.”
When the photos were first taken down it sparked confusion amongst fans. Taking to the website Reddit, as some wondered what was going on, one wrote: “Why delete their pic, we saw them at the party?”
Another speculated that the Sussexes may have asked for their photos to be taken down. They said: “A bit cringe to accept the invite but not want your pics associated with attending (esp when there are pap shots of you going in or out).”
It comes as Meghan announced she was making a return to acting eight years after starring in Suits. The 44-year-old is starring in new film Close Personal Friends, which is shooting in Pasadena, California.
The movie stars fellow actors Lily Collins, Brie Larson, Henry Golding and Jack Quaid, the son of actors Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid. It’s a mid-budget romcom about two couples, one famous and one not, who become friends on holiday.
This marks Meghan’s first role since 2018 and in a self-referential twist, the Duchess will reportedly play herself. A source told The Sun: “This is a massive moment for Meghan and signifies a return to doing what she truly loves. She has been swamped with offers but this one felt right.
“It is Meghan’s way of gently putting her toe back in the water and seeing how she enjoys being back on set. Prince Harry is, of course, really supportive and quite simply wants Meghan to do whatever brings her joy.”
But it’s been said she didn’t plan to make a return to acting. In 2022 Meghan spoke out about how she would not be returning to acting any time soon. In an interview with Variety magazine at the time, she said: “I’m done. I guess never say never, but my intention is to absolutely not.”
After she started dating Harry in 2016, Meghan stepped away from acting to pursue a life as a royal. This was until they both sensationally stepped down as senior members in 2020 and moved to California, where they now live with their two children Archie, six, and Lilibet, four.
