Jenny Han’s The Summer I Turned Pretty (TSITP) is just one week away from its final episode, but viewers are still being introduced to new characters.

The latest episode of the beloved YA show dropped on Prime Video today (September 10), and saw Belly (Lola Tung) sparking a new fling with fellow Parisian Benito (Fernando Cattori).

Their romance comes after Belly jetted off to Europe following her failed engagement to Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno).

We first see sparks between the pair during the festive period, after Belly opts to stay in France instead of travelling back home for Christmas.

They later share a passionate kiss on New Year’s Eve and appear to be in an established relationship by the end of season three, episode 10.

But who is the actor behind Belly’s new fling?

Benito is brought to life by Mexican actor and director Fernando Cattori.

Cattori has spent much of his career behind the camera and recently bagged a Latin Grammy nomination for directing the long-form music video ‘Nacimos Llorando.’

Just last year, Cattori broke into acting with Netflix’s crime drama Untamed Royals, playing the role of Gerardo.

The multi-hyphenate artist went on to feature in Prime Video’s Spanish-language romcom With You in the Future, which premiered this February.

Now, the new movie star has found his first English-speaking role in The Summer I Turned Pretty.

Cattori opened up about the struggles of playing Benito in a recent chat with Schön! Magazine.

He said: “Every job has been challenging in its own way — I’m constantly asking fellow actors for tips, in awe of their discipline, finesse, or attention to detail. But if I had to name one, I’d say Benito was the most challenging role so far.

“It was my first time acting in English, and while I speak it fluently, my brain still defaults to Spanish. Playing a character who thought and felt in another language was a huge shift.”
