Everything you need to know about DJ Fat Tony
- DJ Fat Tony was once a firm fixture on the London club scene in the 80s and 90s, and has been a friend of David and Victoria Beckham for many years. Today, he is appearing on ITV’s This Morning giving a tell-all interview about the Beckham family feud that has seen Brooklyn, 26, issue a blistering six-page statement about his estrangement from his parents.
- Fat Tony was a guest at Brooklyn’s 2022 wedding to Nicola Peltz, 31, and performed a late-night set at the nuptials. The big day seems to be – in Brooklyn’s telling – where internal resentments reached a major boiling point for the Beckhams.
- Brooklyn has claimed that his mum “hijacked” his first dance with his bride, and danced very “inappropriately” on him leaving him “humiliated” and his new wife seriously upset. He also claimed: “My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped.”
- This now-infamous dance said to have included “grinding” and “nuzzling” on her son, and saw Victoria become the butt of the joke online. Thousands of memes were posted at the fashion designer’s expense, including one by her formerly close pal, Fat Tony.
- He posted a video clip on social media of Lucy Punch’s character Amanda in BBC sitcom Motherland dancing wildly to Lil’ Kleine and Ronnie Flex’s track Drank & Drugs, which he captioned: “POV: Victoria Beckham during Brooklyn’s first dance,” with his own tease included, writing: “Actual video footage. It’s true I was there!”
- But this isn’t all, Fat Tony’s partner, Stavros Agapiou, seemed to back up Brooklyn’s claim about Victoria’s “inappropriate” dance. He wrote in a since-deleted comment on social media, “I was there and she did, he’s telling the truth Good on him for finally speaking out!”
- On This Morning, Fat Tony said he was taking part in the segment to dive into the use of the word “inappropriate”. He said that there was no “Spice Girl’s action” or daring dance moves on Victoria’s part, but the “timing” was what was “inappropriate” in his view.
- He confirmed Brooklyn’s version of events, claiming that Victoria was called to the stage during the first dance, with singer Marc Anthony saying “the most beautiful woman in the room” should come to the dance floor. Then Marc name dropped the former Spice Girl, who came to the stage. He said Brooklyn was “devastated” and Nicola left the room “crying her eyes out”.
- He claimed that the singer, who was giving a performance, publicly encouraged Brooklyn to grab his mum’s hips, because it was a “Latin” dance. “What we deem as inappropriate is not how Brooklyn feels. It’s all about how Brooklyn feels,” Fat Tony said.
- The DJ claimed the wedding brunch the day after was “awkward” and not “many” people came to it, but those who did discussed the tension from the night before. He claimed that Victoria had been dragged into the dance.
- Fat Tony has been a staple of Victoria’s major events for many years. He DJ-ed Brooklyn’s 21st birthday and the launch party for Victoria’s collection with Reebok.
- Despite being close with the Beckhams for a long time, it seems things might be a bit rocky between the pals. David and Victoria no longer appear to follow him on social media.
