Following the second round of pool matches, seven teams have secured their spots in the Women’s Rugby World Cup quarter-finals.

On Sunday, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, and France joined Canada, Scotland, and England in qualifying on Saturday.

Ireland defeated Spain by a bonus-point score of 43-27 on Sunday, clinching the victory with seven tries.

Who will win Pool C will be decided on Sunday in Brighton when Scott Bemand’s side takes on defending champions New Zealand.

Braxton Sorensen-McGee, a teenager, recorded a hat-trick as the Black Ferns defeated Japan 62-19 to advance to the quarter-finals.

South Africa triumphed over Italy 29-24 in a thrilling match to earn their first-ever knockout spot.

Following a 14-try victory over Brazil, France also advanced. Top spot in Pool D will be up for the Springbok Women and France when they meet next week.

Scotland will face second-placed Canada the following weekend in Salford, where they defeated Fiji 29-15.

Wales’ hopes of making it to the last eight were thwarted by Canada with a 42-0 defeat.

In Pool A, Jess Breach scored a hat-trick as tournament favorites England won the World Cup by a record score of 92-3 against Samoa.

Australia and the United States fought it out 31-31 in a dramatic match to remain in Pool A qualifying contention for second place.

What is the operation of the tournament?

For a win, a draw, and a loss, teams are given four points.

However, teams will also receive bonus points if they succeed on four or more tries and/or suffer a seven-point or less thrashing.
