Stephen Graham, a star in his adolescence, all started with one of his teacher’s, before becoming one of the country’s most well-known actors. We examine his career in detail in this article.

Since the release of Netflix’s Adolescence, many fans have recognised one of the lead actors but haven’t quite placed where they’ve seen him before.

Stephen Graham, who plays the father in the show everyone has been talking about for weeks, has been a familiar face on our screens for decades. His career began in the late 90s, with the star landing a role in Coronation Street in 1999, playing Lee Sankey, a drug dealer.

His biggest breakthrough, however, was in the 2000 film Snatch, in which he played a wannabe thug Tommy. He gained a lot of respect for his performance and opened the door to even more incredible opportunities.

In 2002, Stephen appeared alongside Hollywood icon Leonardo Dicaprio in Gangs of New York, playing Shang, a member of the Dead Rabbits Gang.

It was this show which earned him the nickname “Animal” on set, after a near-accident on a golf cart with Dicaprio and actor Alec McCowen – an incident that almost resulted in injury to Leonardo.

In the acclaimed film This Is England, one of his most famous roles, especially for the British audience. His portrayal of Combo, a troubled and violent character, gained praise for his emotional depth and complexity. Stephen’s ability to develop complex characters was also demonstrated by numerous award nominations for him.

He has since gained acclaim from his many years of success, particularly with his portrayal of an infamous Chicago gangster in Boardwalk Empire, which earned him acclaim worldwide.

His breakout role in The Irishman, where he and other big names in Hollywood met and competed against film legends like Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, was another standout role in his career.

Along with his acting work, Stephen has made notable music videos, most recently for his role in the Arctic Monkeys song “When the Sun Goes Down.” His career gained a new dimension thanks to his role in the Sheffiled-born indie band’s video.

He maintains a close relationship with his wife, Hannah Walters, despite his career that has primarily been drama-focused. The pair, who had two children together, met while they were still in their early acting days in This is England.

His wife played a teacher in the popular television series Adolescence, and the couple has since appeared on the same screen and in television 13 times. Stephen recently revealed that his wife assists him with work beyond the screen, and that she has recently opened up about their relationship. “I struggle because I’m dyslexic.” he made a comment.

“My missus actually reads the script and decides whether or not I’m acting.” She made some wise judgments.

Their strong partnership, both on and off screen, reflects Stephen’s dedication and commitment to excellence.

However, his teacher significantly contributed to his success by enticing him to pursue acting before his career even started. He recognized his talent right away and was inspired by his drama teacher.

According to Shortlist, he has spoken out about how the teacher’s support and faith in him helped him gain the confidence he now holds.

“We were mostly kids from council estates, and many of us had never done theatre before. In a similar way to my parents, he made us believe we could do whatever we wanted. We thought we were changing the world, but we weren’t – we were just making pieces about society, the rainforest, that kind of thing,” he said

His work has been far beyond ordinary. He has appeared in TV dramas and made major motion pictures like Pirates of the Caribbean. The celebrity has developed a admired and respected career.
