Emmy Award winning actor Timothy Busfield has been accused of child abuse linked to The Cleaning Lady TV show and there is now a warrant for his arrest

Emmy award-winning actor and director Timothy Busfield is at the centre of serious child sexual abuse allegations, with an arrest warrant now issued for the Hollywood veteran.

The 68-year-old star, celebrated for his performances in Field of Dreams and acclaimed television series The West Wing and Thirtysomething, is facing a criminal investigation.

Police launched their inquiry in November 2024 following a report from a doctor at the University of New Mexico Hospital about alleged sexual abuse.

While speaking with Officer Marvin Kirk Brown, who issued the warrant, the victims’ parents said the minors were child actors who met Busfield on the set of the FOX series The Cleaning Lady, where Busfield served as a director, according to the arrest warrant.

According to reports, an officer interviewed two parents whose children had worked as actors on the FOX television series The Cleaning Lady, where Busfield served as a director.

Court documents filed by Albuquerque police on January 4 allege the producer instructed the siblings to address him as “Uncle Tim” and is accused of tickling their stomach and legs.

Hospital staff informed officers that the children appeared to have been groomed, according to court filings. One youngster claimed the alleged abuse began when he was just seven years old. Busfield allegedly made inappropriate contact with the child on five or six separate occasions.

The director reportedly became “closer to the boys” throughout the series’ production, the children’s parents stated in the arrest warrant.

After the father was told that “there had been multiple rumours that Timothy had been ‘handsy’ with women,” the siblings’ mother asked her sons, “Who were eleven years old at the time, if anyone had ever touched them in a manner that made them feel uncomfortable. The children allegedly responded by asking, ‘You mean like Uncle Tim?’ ” according to the warrant.

The parents were advised by an attorney to take the children to UNMH, where they say professionals suggested the boys “were groomed,” per the warrant.

In 2025, one of the minors disclosed to a therapist that Busfield touched his “genitalia” and “bottom” whilst in a bedroom on the television show’s set, an affidavit obtained by KTLA reveals.

The document states that Busfield admitted to an officer he had engaged in “playful” contact with the children on set, whilst denying any wrongdoing.

Busfield, also known for his role in “Revenge of the Nerds”, is now facing two counts of sexual contact with a minor and child abuse.

It remains uncertain whether the Hollywood star has been formally booked at this stage. His arrest warrant reveals that Busfield has previously been subject to sexual assault allegations stretching back to 1994.

Busfield boasts more than 700 credits across acting, producing and directing in television and cinema. He secured an Emmy Award for his portrayal of Elliot Weston on the acclaimed series “Thirtysomething” in 1991.

The entertainment industry veteran is perhaps best recognised for his performance as Danny Concannon across multiple seasons of “The West Wing”. However, he has also featured in numerous films, including “Stripes”, “Sneakers” and “Quiz Show”.
