On a four-and-a-half-year contract with the option to extend for a further year, West Ham has signed Lazio striker Valentin “Taty” Castellanos for an undisclosed fee.

The 27-year-old made 98 appearances for Lazio, scoring 22 goals and providing 16 assists, before moving to Lazio in 2023.

Castellanos has also played for Girona and New York City FC. He has won two caps for Argentina since making his debut in 2024.

Castellanos was referred to as “a key target,” according to West Ham’s coach Nuno Espirito Santo.

Every match is a battle, and I’m here to help make that happen, he said, “I’m here to try to make every match as important and tough as possible.”

After signing Brazilian striker Pablo Felipe from Portuguese side Gil Vicente for a reported 25 million euros (£22 million), Castellanos is Nuno’s second signing for January.
