Rehanne Skinner, West Ham’s head coach, was fired after winning just one of their first 11 Women’s Super League games this year.
Second-placed Liverpool, who are second from bottom, held 2-2 at home on Sunday.
The board of directors believes a change is necessary, according to a statement from West Ham.
West Ham finished last season and second from bottom in 2023-24.
On November 16, they defeated Everton at home, their only WSL victory this term.

Skinner has endured a disappointing run of results this season because he was not fully supported in the summer transfer window.
Her side has struggled with relegation for a while, but Skinner has managed to help them succeed and sign some promising players.
With a limited budget and little money available, she has been clever in the transfer window, finding ways to sign foreign players who haven’t met the league’s qualifying players first, sending them out on loan.
She has also played a key role in implementing structural changes, pushing for more staff, more women’s medical research, maternity support, and overall stability for the team as the club’s first female manager.
There was an expectation from West Ham’s sources that Skinner’s dedication to the role would improve upon the performances of the previous season and earn a ninth-place finish.
However, they have consistently struggled this term and, despite doing well in patches, have lacked organization and solidity.
As a result, they only had eight points last season, compared to the five they currently have, and Skinner, a seasoned coach, will understand that football is a business of results.
