Werder Bremen Sack Coach Werner

Ole Werner, the manager of Werder Bremen, said he would not be leaving the club after 2026, and on Tuesday he was fired.

Werner declined to accept a contract extension, according to German media on Monday.

The 37-year-old was immediately released after Bremen responded on Tuesday. Bremen stated in a statement that “we regret deeply Ole’s choice because we envisioned a long-term collaboration with him.”

We have decided to release Ole because we require consistency and clarity in the head coaching position.

With the four-time Bundesliga champions and six-time cup winners in the second division, Werner arrived in 2021.

After overseeing a swift return to the top flight, Werner has stabilized the organization and made improvements year after year.

Bremen, who hasn’t played in Europe since 2010-11, finished one point behind the European placings this year.

There is a vacant dugout at several Bundesliga clubs, including RB Leipzig, Wolfsburg, Cologne, and Augsburg.
