Former Great Britain bobsleigher and track athlete mike moore will compete at next month’s Winter Olympics for Jamaica.
The 32-year-old Newport, South Wales, native has qualified for the monobob competition in Milan-Cortina.
When Mica McNeill and Moore placed eighth at the 2018 Pyeongchang Games, it was Britain’s best female bobsleigh performance.
In December of this year, the former Commonwealth Games track sprinter was granted Jamaican citizenship.
Four years ago, I watched my fabulous friends from all over the world announce they were attending the Games, but now I can’t believe it, Moore said on social media.

Venson Byfield, the grandfather of Moore, settled in Wales when he was a Windrush generation.
Before switching to bobsleigh, she began her sporting career as an athlete, competing at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Wales.
In 2022, Moore claimed she had witnessed “damaging and offensive behavior” and left the British winter sports program.
After a three-year break, she took a three-year break and made her debut at the 2025 Europe Cup in Lillehammer.
In her Instagram post, Moore stated, “The journey was never going to be easy.
The biggest advice I can give myself is to never give up.
To persevere despite suffering. to continue when tired. to persevere despite being stopped by others. to persevere even when the mood is good.
In Milan-Cortina, Jamaica’s bobsleigh team, which is best known for its 1993 comedy Cool Runnings, will also have two other teams that will qualify for the four-man and two-man competitions.
Northern Italy’s XXV Winter Olympic Games begin on Friday, February 6 through Sunday, February 22.
More than 450 hours of live action from the Games will be broadcast on the BBC.
