Glasgow Warriors moved second in the Rugby World Cup with a bonus-point win over Zebre in Duncan Weir’s final appearance.
The former Scotland fly-half and two-time league champion with Glasgow made his debut in his final Warriors game with a try and three conversions.
With a score of 19-5 in the opening half, Stafford McDowall, Ollie Smith, and Seb Stephen each scoring twice in the opening half, Weir was able to pull off a winning start before beginning his coaching career.
Warriors made a masterful try early in the game. After a rolling line-out maul was directed at the Zebre line, scrum-half Ben Afshar peeled off and created the defense before coming inside for McDowall to glide over unharmed.
Smith, a full-back, put together a fantastic second try to break through the defense and go in under the sticks. He continued his excellent recent form with a fantastic try.
When Bertaccini crossed, Zebre and Glasgow restored the two-score lead just before half-time when hooker Stephen beat a driving maul.
The Italians had not yet completed their rolling maul, which Quattrini did to earn a spot-kick.
With a brilliantly engineered fourth try to claim the bonus point, Warriors dampened the visitors’ enthusiasm.
Duncan Munn was deftly chipping ahead thanks to some exquisite handling, but Dobie was not competing in the corner. Weir banged over the conversion from the touchline a few minutes before getting into the action.
Hiddleston was a repeat winner for try number five and Glasgow made the most of the maul once more.
As Dobie made a harrowing break up the touchline, stepped inside, and found Weir for the final try before moving onto the academy coaching position, almost raising the Scotstoun roof.
Hiddleston, Sutherland, Talakai, Craig, Miller, Oliver, Weir, and Lancaster are the replacements.
Pani, Belloni, Bertaccini, Bertaccini, Lucchin, Batista, Roger, Dominguez, Buonfiglio, Klein, Pieretto, Canali, Carrera, Volpi, Bianchi, and Ruggeri are the Zebre.
