WBO has mandated that Joseph Parker, the undisputed heavyweight champion, begin negotiations with the undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

The Ukrainian, 38, stopped Daniel Dubois in the fifth-round at Wembley Stadium on July 19th, bringing the division together for the second time.

In March 2024, Parker defeated Zhilei Zhang to claim the WBO interim belt.

The WBO will order the purse bid proceeding after the parties have 30 days to come to terms.

Parker won the vacant belt from Anthony Joshua in the WBO fight between 2016 and 2018, defeating Andy Ruiz Jr.

Parker and Dubois were scheduled to compete in the IBF title in February, but due to illness, the Briton withdrew on two days’ notice. The New Zealander won the matchup against Martin Bakole in Riyadh, keeping him on the card and defending his interim title.

In the run-up to Usyk’s most recent success, Parker was a constant and vocal presence, and he watched from the ringside as the two-weight undisputed champion staged yet another masterclass in London.

After claiming his second victory over Dubois, Usyk stated that he wanted to rest for “two or three months,” but that Parker, Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua, and Derek Chisora were all potential opponents.
