After being diagnosed with pneumonia and almost killing the famous nightclub owner, Wayne Lineker has revealed he will be in a hospital for Christmas.
Wayne Lineker has revealed he has suffered a second severe attack after almost dying from pneumonia. The nightclub owner, 62, said earlier this month that he almost lost his life after contracting a nasty bout of pneumonia – and confessed he’d had an operation to help ease his intense pain.
But now, in a new update he has confirmed he took a turn for the worse after being discharged from hospital. Taking to Facebook, he firstly thanked his followers for their messages of support and concern.
I was only home for four days before having a severe second attack, he said, explaining that he wanted to share a nicer picture of himself because I’m not looking my best right now. My son @seanlineker1 took me home while he was being cared for at home, and I needed to take him back by ambulance.

He continued, claiming that doctors are conducting an investigation into his condition because he still has pneumonia. He stated that experts are investigating the reasons the antibiotics haven’t been successful.
I’ve had countless scans and blood tests, with many more results still to come, according to Wayne. The good news is that it appears to be unrelated to my heart and is more likely to be related to my immune system, which hasn’t changed since I stopped drinking alcohol.
Despite going through a significant lifestyle change, I still feel like I had several infections while in rehab, which still seems to be a significant factor now that I’m almost six months sober. I’ll receive a potent course of antibiotics and steroids via drip if this is confirmed.
And in a devastating admission, he said it is “now looking like I’ll be spending Christmas in hospital”. However, he said he has come to accept it, and insists “I’ll stay here until I’m completely well enough to go home”.
He shared the same update on his Instagram account and was met with support from his celebrity pals. Among them was Celebs Go Dating star Anna Williamson.
The dating expert expressed “so much love and recovery Wayne.” Take your time. Karim Zeroual, the former Strictly actor, and other people, shared a positive message.
He continued, “Bro, you know I’m there when you need Espresso Karimy!” I’m sending you the love, mate! OG XXL loves you dearly.
Additionally, his nephew, George Lineker, expressed his support. He merely stated, “Stay strong uncle,” and punched an emoji in the middle.
The elder brother of top football pundit Gary Lineker previously revealed he had been left unable to walk, after being rushed to hospital when he fell seriously ill. He spent nearly 10 days in intensive care after falling ill following a flight to Dubai – and immediately came home.
At the time, he said: “The last 16 days have been the most traumatic of my life… a truly near-death experience. I honestly don’t think I would have been medically strong enough to survive it if I wasn’t four months sober.
Thank you to the amazing NHS staff who took care of me. Even though those two words don’t feel enough, I mean them with all my heart.
“Next season, I’ll be presenting my gratitude to NHS hospital staff in the UK with something special.”
