In a private video taken from his hospital bed, Legendary Nightclub owner Wayne Lineker revealed the true cause of his horrific brush with death.
Wayne Lineker, 62, has revealed in the video, which sees him pale and hooked up to a drip, that he almost lost his life after contracting a nasty bout of pneumonia – and confessed he’d had an operation to help ease his intense pain.
The elder brother of top football pundit Gary – currently in a war of words with Tommy Robinson – earlier this week revealed that he had been left unable to walk, after being rushed to hospital when he fell seriously ill.
After taking a flight to Dubai, the club owner became ill for almost 10 days before returning home.
He has now revealed that pneumonia was the source of his terrifying near-death experience in his most recent update to fans. He added, “I wanted to share a pneumonia update,” along with the video.

He added, “The last 16 days have been the most traumatic of my life… a truly near-death experience. I honestly don’t think I would have been medically strong enough to survive it if I wasn’t four months sober.
“To the incredible NHS staff who cared for me: thank you. Those two words don’t feel enough, but I mean them with all my heart. Next season, I’ll be doing something special for NHS hospital workers across the UK to show my gratitude for saving my life.”
Wayne’s comments in the video about how he had a “very, very scary” and how he had a serious infection in Dubai made him seem hesitant to speak up. He continued, “I immediately flew home because I was so ill.”
He called daughter Tia after waking up at home to let him know he couldn’t move, and she contacted her mother to come over and assist him.
Wayne was taken to the hospital where he was diagnosed with chronic pneumonia, an inflammatory condition of the lungs that is typically brought on by an infection. He continued, “I was immediately placed in intensive care where I spent nine or ten days, and I’m currently in a respiratory ward.
I can’t walk, I can’t get out of bed, and I need to have two people help me use the restroom. I’m just very, very difficult, but I’m doing well.
Wayne continued, adding that he now has a tube in his lungs that he can use to supress the pus out. He added that he had an operation the day before to get it out. He stated, “I’d just like to thank the NHS because I’m so confident that I will recover from this.”
His horror health ordeal comes after Wayne revealed in September that he had been sober for two months after secretly undergoing a stint in rehab
He acknowledged that the hedonistic lifestyle he had been leading was now “impossible” for him to maintain and that he was leaving Ibiza for good.
