Following a review of recent results, Doug Watson has resigned as Scotland’s head coach, according to Cricket Scotland.

After qualifying against Jersey and Italy, the Scots were eliminated from the T20 World Cup.

The one-day international with Canada on Saturday was canceled. Prior to that, Watson’s team had defeated Namibia and Canada.

I’ll bring many fond memories of my time working for the organization with me, Watson said, despite my disappointment that I’m leaving.

In addition to claiming victories over Ireland, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman in the T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier, Watson was appointed on an interim basis in early 2023.

Before the Scots so narrowly missed out on the super eights stage of the T20 World Cup, his position was officially established in 2024.

Steve Snell, head of cricket Scotland, thanked Watson and said, “He has had some memorable moments with the squad and is well liked by the players. He has made a positive impact in many areas.

With no games until March 2026 and Doug’s relocation, it is appropriate to make sure our coaching program reflects the needs of the squad and the organization over the coming year and beyond.
