The Waterloo Road team posted a heartbreaking tribute to William Rush and Lorraine Cheshire after their passing was revealed last week after they lost two of their former stars.
The Waterloo Road team has shared a heartbreaking tribute on the show’s official Instagram account after two of its stars died in the same week. The tragic death of actor William Rush, aged just 31, came days before Lorraine Cheshire died, aged 65.
Both actors participated in the production, but their roles on the school-based drama overlapped. Between 2009 and 2013, Williams played the schoolboy Josh Stevenson in 168 episodes, while Lorraine Cheshire played the role of Fleur Budgen from 2007 to 2012.
Waterloo Road posted black and white images of each of the late actors on social media. The Waterloo Road family’s very sad week was the title of the post. We are deeply saddened by Lorraine Cheshire’s and William Rush’s passing.

Lorraine’s death was announced on Friday 19 December by her partner John Dixon. Writing on Facebook, he said: “The love of my life passed away early this morning 46 years and now my heart is broken. To the green fields beyond.” He posted a photo of Lorraine alongside his poignant words.

Before taking on the role of Fleur in Waterloo Road, Lorraine also appeared on Early Doors for two seasons. Her death occurred shortly after William Rush’s family announced his age of 31.
William’s mum is Coronation Street star Debbie Rush, who played Anna Windass from 2008 until 2018. William had also appeared in Grange Hill and Shameless as a child, before moving on to roles in Casualty and Vera.
Debbie, 59, shared a picture of her son wearing a Manchester City shirt while sat on a couch. William, our sweet baby boy, passed away on December 17th, according to her. Our hearts as a family are completely broken, and words cannot adequately express how much we lost.
William gave the most priceless gift of all, even in our most troubled time. He has given other families hope and life by giving organs, and he has always been in the same thoughts. His compassion and compassion will remain a part of his legacy forever.
