Ryan Matterson, the forward for Warrington Wolves, has stated that, if given the chance, he would continue playing in the Super League.
The 30-year-old made his Wire debut against Leigh last week after signing with the Parramatta Eels on loan until the end of the season.
Matterson left his Parramatta contract to join Warrington for the rest of the season, but he will continue to play for the Eels until 2026.
Matterson responded to a question from BBC Radio Merseyside about whether he might be persuaded to stay if a deal was made for a season after that point: “Definitely. I’m willing to do anything that would be best for me.
I’ll definitely be working with Parramatta next year. You can’t change teams after you finish playing football on June 30 because you can’t play it.
The club has spoken with my manager about the upcoming events and those that follow. I’ve told him that he can resolve it; I’m focused on the immediate future.
After missing nine weeks of work before arriving in the UK, Matterson made his debut against Leigh in 2025.
He continued, “It was good to get some game time and I’m going to be better for it.”
“I believe I’ve recovered from the injury and look forward to a strong season’s conclusion.
