After dislocating his shoulder in the opening match of the autumn series against Argentina at the beginning of November, Wales captain Jac Morgan will miss the 2026 Six Nations.

The 25-year-old flanker has undergone surgery, according to Ospreys head coach Mark Jones, who claims the British and Irish Lion will be “four to five months” on the sidelines.

Wales kick off their campaign in England on February 7 before hosting matches against France on February 15 and Scotland on February 15.

Morgan might have a chance to play in his final two games against Italy on March 6 and Ireland on March 14 if his rehabilitation progresses.

He underwent his operation, which is going very well, and he is recovering, according to Jones. He is currently competing for his best, and he needs to win back as soon as possible.

After suffering a calf problem in the pre-season, Jones had to make up for Morgan for the first four rounds of the United Rugby Championship (URC).

Morgan will prove to be a major failure heading into the second half of the series of games and the European Challenge Cup, but Jones isn’t putting pressure on his return.

We have a strong medical team here, and everyone recovers at a different rate, Jones said.

He’s working hard, and I’ve even read that he has a cryotherapy room in his home, which explains what he’s trying to do and how quickly he’s trying to get back.

Jac will always get his right and never let his team down by returning too early or not being 100%, he said.

Contract uncertainty

At the end of the 2025-26 season, Morgan has signed with the Ospreys and has previously stated that he will leave professional rugby in Wales.

By keeping just one region in the west, the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) is effectively putting Scarlets and Ospreys in danger.

Jones claims there has been “a lot of good news” regarding player signings, with Morgan and fellow Wales captain Dewi Lake not yet making a deal. Keelan Giles is the most recent to do so.

They have made it abundantly clear that they won’t be made decisions quickly, Jones said.

They, like many of us, are eager to learn more about the plans’ long-term effects before making any wiser decisions, which I fully agree with.

We have offered to both of them and have spoken to them both, according to the statement we made clear.
