Lindsey Vonn, an American, placed third in the downhill race in Val d’Isere on Saturday, earning her third podium finish in four World Cup competitions.

The 41-year-old finished third overall in the world championships, earning her 141th podium finish last week, becoming the oldest downhill champion in the world.

Vonn, who hasn’t raced in eight years at the French Alps resort, finished in 1 minute 41.89 seconds behind Austria’s Cornelia Huetter and German Kira Weidle-Winkelmann in second.

Vonn injured her knee and made a competitive return in December 2024, when she was forced to retire from the sport in February 2019.

Vonn will be hoping to win four World Cup titles over the course of her 20-year career with the help of 48 days until the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, which will take place on February 6 through 22.

She is currently competing for the United States at the 2026 Games and already holds two gold and two bronze medals.
