Vinicius, a Brazilian forward, has publicly apologized to Real Madrid for his outcry following his furious substitution during the tense 2-1 win over arch-rival Barcelona over the weekend.
After being hauled off in the 72nd minute and being replaced by Rodrygo, Vinicius protested with coach Xabi Alonso and marched off down the tunnel.
In his apology, Vinicius did not mention the Real Madrid coach.
“I apologize to all Madrid fans for my behavior following today’s substitution at the Clasico.” The 25-year-old apologized to his teammates, club, and president after doing it in person during today’s training, just as he has already done in person.
“Sometimes, I get too excited because I always want to win and support my team.” The passion I have for this organization and everything it stands for has given me a competitive nature. I’ve said to myself, “I promise to keep fighting every second for Real Madrid’s sake,” Vincius said.
The player did make a comeback to the pitch-side to watch the game and was involved in a fight with Lamine Yamal, a star of Barcelona.
After the game, Alonso stated that Vinicius’ huff would be resolved in the dressing room.
