Before the transfer deadline of Monday, Manchester United is considering moving for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

United have been negotiating with Royal Antwerp regarding their highly regarded 23-year-old Belgian Senne Lammens in order to solve their goalkeeping problems.

Lammens, who has missed the previous two games due to injury, wants to join United. The Belgian Pro League club must sell in order to meet a previous loan that was taken out on an external level.

Martinez won the World Cup with Argentina and was the second-time Fifa goalkeeper of the year with 197 Premier League appearances, despite the fact that he lacks high-level experience.

Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir, the team’s current keepers, have both already made mistakes this year. Without Bruno Fernandes’ injury-time penalty, Bayindir’s most recent error would have prevented United winning against Burnley.

Should United decide to sign the Belgium youngster, Galatasaray are interested in Lammens, but they may also be interested in Bayindir or Onana.

United sources are putting pressure on United to sign at least one goalkeeper before the window closes on Monday at 19:00 BST.

At the beginning of the summer, they inquired about signing 32-year-old Martinez on loan, but Villa denied their concerns.
