Yusuf Tuggar, the minister of foreign affairs, welcomed the US’s counterterrorism operations in the North-West and expressed his desire for global cooperation in the fight against insecurity.
Tuggar spoke on Friday after the US confirmed its support for US airstrikes in the area, which it claimed caused several terrorists to die there.
“We have been having a good relationship with Americans,” he said. On Friday’s edition of Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Tuggar stated that this is what we’ve always been hoping for: to collaborate with Americans, collaborate with other nations in preventing terrorism, and stop the murder of innocent Nigerians.

Nigeria Provided Intelligence

The Nigerian government, which also provided intelligence for the operation, was responsible for the strikes, which were carried out on Thursday, according to the minister.
He claimed that Nigeria provided intelligence for the US’s attack there. Before the strike, I had a conversation with US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, and we agreed to meet to discuss the plan with President Tinubu.
The minister said, “Now that the US is cooperating, we would do it jointly, and we would make sure that it is a joint operation, and it is not just about pursuing one religion or the other,” as the president stated before yesterday.
“We are a multi-religious nation, and we are working with partners like the US to combat terrorism and protect Nigerians’ lives and properties.”
