Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the interior minister, made a note of the events that led to his father’s 1992 death in Kaduna State on Thursday.

Tunji-Ojo, who spoke on Channels Television’s special program Youth Forum to mark President Bola Tinubu’s second year in office, claimed his father was killed when he was just ten years old because he claimed he was killed during a religious crisis in the state’s north-western state.

The minister argued that the minister, who raised him alongside his other siblings, had to continue his education.

Due to issues that involved internal security, I lost my father. My father was killed in Kaduna in 1992 because of whatever religious reasons he had: he was a convert to Christianity.

He said, “That made me lose my balance and brought me back to the cradle, and growing up with my mother was difficult.

The minister, however, claimed that despite the difficulties he faced, he chose to face his obstacles and launch a profitable business before he entered the government.

He praised President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to reform the economy during the event.

He continued, “I’m pleased that Mr. President came and made two decisions. What we were spending today was the future, prior to Mr. President’s approval.

When we were appropriating money, I was in the National Assembly. Your revenue was primarily used for debt servicing, not for repayment.
