Sophie Habboo, Jamie Laing’s wife, will take Vick Hope’s place on BBC Radio 1 as it has been announced.

The 35-year-old radio DJ is taking maternity leave from the station after expecting her first child with her husband Calvin Harris.

Jamie revealed the news on his Instagram account on Thursday morning, saying: “I’m so excited to be joining the Radio 1 family. We’re the first married couple to do it together; I’m not sure if that’s a good or a bad thing. Hopefully we don’t argue on the Radio!” Catch you on Monday and get ready for the chaos.

From June 2 through June 18, Sophie will join Jamie’s other co-presenter Katie Thistleton on maternity leave on Going Home, which runs from Monday to Thursday between 3.30pm and 6pm.

Sophie, who gained notoriety on Made in Chelsea’s reality television series, said: “I’m thrilled to finally announce that I’ll be joining the Radio 1 family for the foreseeable future.”

I’ve always enjoyed how radio makes connections between different regions in real time, and I’m honored to be playing Vick’s role as she begins her exciting new chapter.

I’m eager to connect with new people, engage in some great conversations, and hopefully make some friends along the way because everyone who knows me knows that I’m no stranger to talking to the mic for hours.

I’ll also be presenting a little Radio 1 history alongside my husband, Jamie Laing, which is probably not the best way to go about it. Catch you on the air.

The pair previously hosted NewlyWeds podcast and red carpet events like the Brit Awards together, making them the first married couple to do so on Radio 1.

From Monday through Wednesday, Sophie will be on the program.

Sam MacGregor and Danni Diston will co-host the program on June 23.

GK Barry, a former I’m A Celebrity contestant, will take over the weekend afternoon show, which airs from 12:30 to 4 p.m. throughout July, starting on Friday, July 4.

The social media personality behind the Saving Grace podcast will co-host with special guests.

I’m so excited to be presenting my own show on BBC Radio 1 in July, said GK Barry.

I’m happy to spend a few hours a week with my entire team and thank them for their trust in me with such a massive audience.
