Versace founder Gianni shot twice in head then his sister Donatella did something amazing

J-Lo’s appearance at the 42nd Grammy Awards in 2000 sounded like it was going to spit out a barely there jungle print gown that was sported to the red carpet. The instantly-iconic dress, which had a neckline that sunk past her naval, reportedly gave rise to Google Images as a result of a spike in internet searches.

The singer later claimed that the dress was her “biggest fashion moment ever,” but Donatella Versace, the designer, also had a turning point.

Few observers had anticipated that the 45-year-old’s reign would be anything more than a postscript to her brother’s death, which came just three years after she took control of the upscale Italian fashion house.

Instead, she spent 27 years in charge, leading Versace to become a household name, and became a household name for it.

And she proved all her doubters wrong by overseeing hundreds of fashion campaigns, dressing some of the biggest names in the world, and earning her acclaim as one of the most successful female designers in modern history.

When Versace was sold to US business Capri Holdings six and a half years ago, Donatella served as the brand’s creative director.

She has announced that she will step down from her position and that it will be “the greatest honor of my life to carry on my brother Gianni’s legacy” to her 12 million Instagram followers.

The decision has once more sparked outrage in the fashion industry, with some claiming she was expelled out of line with rumors that Prada Group is interested in buying the company, and making rumors that it will turn out to be “Donatella’s downfall.”

Others, however, have learned from their 69 years of experience as a master of reinvention and undisputed queen of jaw-dropping glamour.

Donatella has defied expectations throughout her life, surviving divorce, loss, drug addiction, and ridicule.

Donatella was inspired by her closeness to her older brother and was born in Reggio Calabria, Italy, in 1955. Gianni, a budding designer, grew up around her and wore her as a child in expensive gowns.

Gianni even picked the hairdresser who had given her the now-iconic platinum blonde locks when she was just 11 because he had admired Italian singer Patty Pravo.

After graduating from college, she moved in with her brother, who launched Versace in 1978. She eventually pursued fashion. Gianni gave her Versus, a second line of his fashion house, that he had created specifically for her, when she was 34.

Then, on July 15, 1997, everything changed. After leaving his mansion in Miami Beach to buy coffee and a newspaper, Gianni was shot in the head at age 50.

Andrew Cunanan, a serial killer and male prostitute, who had previously killed four people before starting a multi-state killing spree, targeted him.

According to reports, Donatella allegedly screamed so loudly that the hotel’s de la Ville in Italy where she was staying could be heard her scream. Then she fell asleep and was carried all the way to her penthouse suite.

And she was suddenly tasked with running one of the world’s most extravagant fashion houses. Without knowing whether she could keep it all together, the world watched.

She said in 2007 that when my brother was murdered, 99% of people thought I wouldn’t make it. At first, I may have thought the same. My entire world had crashed around me because my brother was the king.

She was also suffering from a devastating cocaine addiction that ruled her life for 18 years. She visited rehab in 2005 and permanently broke the habit, encouraged by her friend Sir Elton John.

Just a few months after Gianni’s passing, Donatella dedicated her debut collection to him in an effort to preserve her brother’s legacy.

Karl Lagerfeld, Donna Karan, Angela Missoni, Miuccia Prada, and Gianni’s long-ago rival Giorgio Armani all attended the lavish event, which featured some of the biggest names in fashion.

She recalled that “I had to stand up for the company.” But my main duty was to stand up for the family.

Despite this, the majority of industry observers predicted Gianni’s demise. The world began to notice as she stepped out of her brother’s shadow in 2000 when she finally silenced the doubters on the red carpet of the Oscars.

And she continued to do so. Celebrities began to show up in her outfits, including Madonna, Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, and Beyoncé.

In honor of her fearless persona, Lady Gaga even wrote a song about her in the title “Donatella.”

She also ushers in a new era of glam with Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Emily Ratajkowski, revitalizing the supermodel era by bringing back Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford, and Naomi Campbell for significant runway moments.

She also spoke out in support of LGBTQ+ rights in a speech in 2023, saying that “our government is trying to take away people’s rights to live as they wish.”

The designer’s love of plastic surgery earned her a signature look and received praise for openly discussing her changes. In 2010 she said:” Natural? Describe natural. That’s what? I don’t think women should be completely natural. “Natural” has something to do with vegetables, in my opinion.

She later admitted: “I’m not like this genetically at the Vogue Festival.” I moisturize my skin and hair with a lot of cream.

After posting a photo of herself leaving London with a younger-than-ever look, she made another new appearance in December.

The secret to Donatella’s success was revealed in her partnership with singer Dua Lipa-Versace’s first co-designed collection with a celebrity, which showcased a fusion of music and fashion, which was revealed in last year’s collaboration.

The collaboration culminated with a fashion show in Cannes on May 23, 2023, with the release of the “La Vacanza” collection.

The singer responded to the news that the legendary designer was leaving by posting behind-the-scenes photos from the event on Instagram, along with her own homage, which summed up the sentiments of millions of fashion fans worldwide: “No-one does it like you @donetella_versace!!!! “
