The legacy of Valentino

Valentino, the co-founder of the upscale fashion house and brand, passed away on Monday at his Rome residence, according to a statement posted on the Instagram accounts of Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti Foundation.

After launching his brand in 1960, the designer, who is renowned for his statement Valentino Red shade, influenced high fashion throughout the latter decade, including Diana, Princess of Wales, Elizabeth Taylor, and former US first lady Jacqueline “Jackie” Kennedy Onassis.

As she arrived at church, the designer’s friends extended a warm hug to Anne Hathaway.

The actress called the fashion ancestor “a titan who made my world brighter.”

It has been an extraordinary honor to have known, loved, and been cared for by the great Valentino Garavani, Anne, who made a cameo in the movie The Devil Wears Prada.
