US military says it has killed senior ISIL (ISIS) leader in Syria’s Aleppo

A senior ISIL (ISIS) leader and his two sons, who are also members of the organization, have been killed by US Central Command (CENTCOM) forces in Syria’s Aleppo region, according to the US military.

According to a post on X on Friday, “CENTCOM Forces conducted a raid in al-Bawba, Aleppo Governate, Syria, that resulted in the deaths of senior ISIS leader Dhiya Muslih al-Hardani and his two adult ISIS-affiliated sons, Abdallah Dhiya al-Hardani and Abdallah al-Rahman Dhiya al-Hardani.”

The new Syrian Government and the US and Coalition Forces were both threatened by these ISIS members, the statement continued.

“We will continue to relentlessly search for ISIS terrorists wherever they are.” Where do IS terrorists sleep, work, and hide in fear of persecution? U.S. Central Command is committed to ensuring that ISIS terrorists who threaten the region, our allies, and our homeland are defeated despite the opposition from our partners and allies, according to US CENTCOM commander General Michael Erik Kurilla.

According to analysts, ISIL launched its first attack on the Syrian army since Bashar al-Assad’s assassination in late May, taking responsibility for the group’s subsequent attack on the Syrian army.

ISIL claimed in a statement that its fighters had planted an explosive device in southern Syria that struck a “vehicle of the apostate regime.”

ISIL has so far focused its activities against Kurdish forces in the north, blaming President Ahemd al-Sharaa’s new government for being illegitimate.

Since al-Assad’s overthrow, the fledgling Syrian government has been forced to deal with Israeli bombardment and incursions into its territory as well as the recent escalation of ongoing sectarian violence in Suwayda, a southern city.
