UPDATED: PDP Holds NEC, Caucus Meeting

The Bauchi governor’s lodge in Abuja, the country’s capital, hosted its caucus meeting on September 6.

Following its failure to complete all of the agenda items, including those relating to the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, the party adjourned on Monday.

The party will hold its NEC meeting following this. The PDP fixed it for noon, but the party’s secretariat annex, the Legacy House, later changed it to 2 pm.

PDP also delays the session’s Tuesday meeting and condemns secretariat sealing.

The NEC meeting on Tuesday will address “important issues affecting the party, including strategies for upcoming political engagements,” according to the PDP.

The Party National Chairman and other members of the National Working Committee (NWC), one of the PDP’s most powerful decision-making bodies, include, among others, state governors, current and former presidents, former vice-presidents, the chairman and secretary of the Board of Trustees (BoT), principal officers of the National Assembly, state chairpersons, former governors, and founding members.

If PDP collapses, Nigeria will elect an emperor as its president, writes Sule Lamido.

The Federal Capital Territory Development Authority (FCTDA) has also been criticized by the PDP for closing its national secretariat at Wadata Plaza on Monday.

Damagum described the FCTA’s actions as irresponsible and promised to challenge them when they were released from a press conference following the caucus meeting.
