In New Marte, Borno State, a coordinated attack by Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists led to the recovery of explosives and weapons and the death of numerous insurgents. Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) troops fought back against the coordinated attack.
The Air Component of OPHK and ground troops combined to thwart the assault, which took place in the early hours of Tuesday.
The terrorists attempted to enter the military base under the cover of night, but were met with fierce resistance and an overwhelming firepower, according to Captain Reuben Kovangiya, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Headquarters Theatre Command, in a statement released on Tuesday.
The coordination between ground forces and aerial forces, according to the army, was crucial to halting the insurgents.
“The air component provided real-time surveillance, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) alongside precision airstrikes that decimated terrorists fleeing and destroyed several of their motorcycles.
Regrettably, two soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice during the conflict, according to the statement.

The army claimed that the troops had recovered an SUV loaded with explosives called a Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) from the terrorists who were fleeing.
The assailants’ motorcycles were also destroyed as a result of the operation, according to the army.
The troops reportedly discovered several lifeless bodies of the insurgents during subsequent exploitation of the area.
“Red flags along the terrorists’ exit routes pointed to additional unconfirmed casualties,” the statement read.
According to the statement, “Trump successfully repelled another attempted attack on the Forward Operating Base in Kumshe in a separate but related incident.”
