Tuipulotu returns in extended Wales training squad

Tuipulotu returns in extended Wales training squad

The Huw Evans Agency

After missing the Women’s Six Nations with a hamstring injury that required surgery, prop Sisilia Tuipulotu was named in an extended Wales training squad.

The 21-year-old Gloucester-Hartpury tight-head is a member of a 45-person group headed by head coach Sean Lynn for the 2025 Rugby World Cup in England and the summer tour to Australia.

A two-test series will take place between Wales and the Wallaroos, with the first match scheduled for August 26 in Brisbane.

All of the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) contracted players are included in the training squad, but Ffion Lewis, Carys Williams-Morris, Meg Webb, and Niamh Terry are not chosen because their contracts have expired.

Our preparation for the 2025 World Cup begins here, according to Lynn, and we are working hard to lay some solid foundations ahead of the biggest World Cup in women’s rugby history.

We have identified some promising, exciting, uncapped players who have made an impression at the Welsh Under-20, Welsh Under-18, and Celtic Challenge. They are members of the Wales family and have the opportunity to learn what is required at the highest level.

“All of them are very much in the mix for selection for the exciting tour of Australia and, ultimately, the England World Cup squad. They have a chance to demonstrate that they have what it takes for the national side because of their merit.

Wales finished second in a row at the bottom of the standings as the first women’s team to lose all five of their Six Nations matches.

We must use the disappointment as a springboard to grow and prepare for the challenges that lie ahead, Lynn said. “The players, coaches, and staff have all had time to reflect and review what was a disappointing Six Nations campaign.

“We all know we have a point to prove,” according to the statement “we must put in the effort both on and off the field to improve as a team.”

We have no justifications for the difficult and demanding nature of this summer training camp.
