Stefanos Tsitsipas claims that he had considered quitting tennis because of his severe back pain in the 2025 season.

Novak Djokovic finished second behind him at the 2021 French Open and the 2023 Australian Open, and the 27-year-old has been as high as the third-ranked player in the world.

He claimed that his medical care is ongoing and that he is finally seeing progress after playing just two Davis Cup matches since the US Open in August. He is now 36th in the world.

According to Tsitsipas, “I’m most interested to see how my actual training affects my back.”

Tsitsipas, who claimed the injury had left him “for the past six or eight months,” said, “My biggest concern was whether I could finish a game.”

“I would like to know, Can I play another game without suffering.”

After losing to Daniel Altmaier in the US Open, I was really afraid. For two days, I couldn’t walk. When do you consider your career’s prospects?

After completing five weeks of non-painful training, Tsitsipas added that he was happy with his current treatment plan.

In the United Cup, which will take place in Perth and Sydney from February 2 to January 11, he will represent Greece, who are grouped with Naomi Osaka’s Japan and the Emma Raducanu-led Great Britain team.

He said, “My biggest positive thing for 2026 would be that I wouldn’t have to worry about finishing games.”

Knowing you had a pre-season without pain makes a lot of positive feedback, and I hope it continues. For the United Cup and 2026, I want to deliver.
