The invitation was extended as a result of Russia’s nearly four-year conflict with Ukraine and the elusive signing of a peace deal there. Trump had been urging a resolution to the war, which he claimed would end a year before taking office. Peace negotiations are undergoing, but the pace has slowed once more as a result of a war of attrition that has been occurring on the ground.

The White House has reached out to individuals from all over the world to join the “board of peace,” which is led by Trump himself.
According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, “President Putin has also been invited to join this board of peace.”
Without specifying whether Putin would like to join, he claimed that Russia was attempting to “clarify all the nuances” of the deal with Washington.
Trump reportedly invited Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, a friend of Putin, to the organization.
Moscow has long tried to strike a balance between its relations with Israel and the Palestinians, one of the main players in the Middle East.
Putin has resisted Israel’s forcible occupation of Gaza and its subsequent invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, strengthening ties with its allies, including Iran.
In response to growing Western isolation, Moscow has also pressed for closer ties with the Gulf Arab states.
Trump’s efforts to resolve conflicts have previously been praised by Putin.
In October, Putin stated, “He really is doing a lot to resolve these complex crises, which have persisted for years or even decades.”
Putin said in reference to the Middle East situation, “If we succeed in accomplishing everything Donald has aspired to, it will be a historic event.”
Moscow’s traditionally friendly relations with Israel, which has a large Russian-born population, have been strained by the assault on Ukraine and the Gaza war.
Israel’s occupation of Gaza has been repeatedly criticized by the Kremlin, and restraint has been demanded.
At a meeting with President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas in May, Putin was quoted as saying, “The Gaza Strip is experiencing a humanitarian catastrophe in the full sense of the word.
The Russian president continued, “Russia is attempting to provide regular assistance to the Palestinian people.”
A three-tier governing body, including those from the US, Europe, and Arab nations, is expected to implement Trump’s 20-point plan to end Israel’s war on Gaza.
