Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard claimed that Obama and other key allies had misled the public and manipulated intelligence to derail Trump during a White House press conference on Wednesday.
Gabbard responded that it was up to the Department of Justice to charge Obama with treason, but that the actions of Obama and his allies could “only be described as a years-long coup and a treasonous conspiracy against the American people, our republic, and an effort to undermine President Trump’s administration.”
Trump has frequently threatened and demonized his political rivals as he frequently makes baseless claims. He has also continued to focus on past grievances, making claims that murky forces have undermined him, and making the false claim that he won the election in 2020.
Members of his own right-wing base have recently come under increased pressure from his administration over its handling of Jeffrey Epstein, a scandal-ridden financier and sex trafficker.
Trump has stated that he wants Obama to have “accountability” as president before taking office.
He is guilty, he says, “it’s there.” Trump defended accusations that were widely discredited as being unfounded on Tuesday, saying that this was treason. They attempted to obfuscate the election, and they attempted to steal it. Nobody could have imagined what they did, even in other nations.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt did not specify what steps Trump would like to take when asked about those remarks on Wednesday.
We can rely on the Department of Justice to move the ball forward, she said.
Among the names given by Gabbard on Wednesday were former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former FBI Director James Comey, and former CIA Director John Brennan.
Trump’s “bizarre” claims of treason are “ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction,” according to a spokesperson for Obama.
