Troops Foil Terrorist Attack In Niger State

An attack by terrorists in the Rijau Local Government Area of Niger State was foiled by Joint Task Force Operation Fansan Yamma.

The spokesperson for Operation Fansan Yamma, Captain David Adewusi, disclosed this in a statement released on Wednesday, stating that the operation took place on July 22.

He claimed that troops “successfully intercepted and neutralized a large group of terrorists moving towards Ragada and Warari communities in Rijau LGA” from the Baban Doka axis of Maru Local Government Area (LGA) in Zamfara State.

According to him, the troops had launched a coordinated assault close to Inana Village in Rijau LGA and engaged the terrorists in a fierce firefight, consisting of joint teams from the Mariga and Zuru axes. &nbsp,

The Air Component of OPFY supported the ground troops with vital intelligence, surveillance, and air strikes during the engagement, enabling a swift response.

He claimed that numerous motorcycles and communication devices were recovered after a number of terrorists had been neutralized.

Two AK-47 rifles, one magazine with five rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 18 motorcycles, and other items were among those recovered from the terrorists. &nbsp,

Adewusi claimed that the joint assault prevented the terrorists’ attempts to sabotage the area and rustle the livestock. Unfortunately, during the firefight, one of the soldiers suffered fatal injuries.
