Troops Clear Terrorist Camps, Foil Attack In Borno

The insurgents in Borno State have been able to recover equipment from several terrorist camps thanks to Operation Hadin Kai.

According to a statement released on Monday, a spokesman for Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hadin Kai, Sani Uba, said the troops had continued to perform well under Operation Desert Sanity.

He added that the advancing troops maintained momentum and the offensive even though they were attacked by armed drones by the terrorists at around noon.

According to him, the troops also successfully resisted in the evening, forcing the terrorists to flee.

According to Uba, a lieutenant-colonel, troops also blocked coordinated attacks by the insurgents in the Timbuktu Triangle.

He claimed that troops moved from their harbor area on Sunday, January 18th, 2026, and conducted deliberate, intelligence-led operations across several alleged terrorist enclaves, including Chilaria, Garin Faruk, and Abirma.

“The Air Component of OPHK supported the operation, which maintained constant ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance) coverage along the axis. The air-to-ground synergy increased the precision and confidence of ground operations, deterred adversary reinforcement, and increased real-time tracking of terrorist movements, the statement said in part.

According to the statement, troops recovered a number of military-related items during the operation, including Baofeng radios, phones, 5 x AK-47 magazines, several rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and 7.62mm NATO belted ammunition, according to the statement.

Numerous bags of medical supplies, several bags of grains, a pickup truck, underground logistics storage, and a Petroleum and Oil Lubricant (POL) dump are among the items recovered, further deteriorating the terrorists’ operational and logistical abilities.
