Fans have been diverted by Trisha Paytas’ audition for a Disney stage production despite her attire.
The singer and YouTuber admitted to having watched numerous scenes of a stage show suggested by her ‘For You’ page on TikTok.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame is a piece of the American theater company’s production, which is currently being performed at West Valley Arts in Utah. According to the venue’s website, the show, which runs until August 30th, takes inspiration from both the Disney animated film and Victor Hugo’s original novel.
Trisha confesses her desire to appear on the show herself, which suggests that sneak peeks of the show have piqued her interest. She also requested that she visit the production in person.
Speaking directly to the camera in the clip, she says: “My entire FYP is this theatre in Utah, West valley it’s called. Shout out Beatriz (Melo), she plays Esmerelda. She captivated me…so I started being like clicking her profile and seeing all the songs she’s ever sang.”, reports OK!.
“Then I started seeing the actor playing the Hunchback, and I think I’d make a great Hunchback for upcoming productions,” said the audition.
She continued, “I don’t know Hunchback that well,” though. I didn’t like it as a child because I probably thought I was too Quasimodo, which I thought was a bad thing then. However, now that I see myself as a Quasimodo, I believe we’re embracing it because we’re embracing it.
She then begins singing one of the show’s songs, but admits she doesn’t understand the words, so she does it karaoke-style.
Her followers overwhelmingly reacted to the video in a slew. She garnered numerous positive reviews for highlighting smaller creators and intimate productions.
The official Twitter account responded, saying: “Trisha, we are honored that you love our theater’s content! Come see Hunchback playing through August 30 and follow us for more!
Trisha could never be Quasimodo, remarked a follower, “She’s too stunning.” Trisha’s wardrobe choice in the video irked many people.
