Ed Kelce, the son of Travis Kelce, revealed that Taylor Swift was “going a little antsy” about the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s proposal to him.
Taylor Swift’s future father-in-law has revealed the newly engaged singer was getting “a little antsy” about how long Travis Kelce was taking to get down on one knee.
Ed Kelce says his son has tried to put Taylor “off till this week” in order to make his proposal “a big special event” but the NFL star eventually listened to his dad’s advice and popped the question earlier this month.
Taylor, 35, and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 35, announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post last night, which showed pictures of him proposing to her and the pair embracing in a rose garden.

The caption reads, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” and the post featured the track “So High School” from Taylor’s album The Tortured Poets Department.”
Fans initially assumed the lavish proposal had taken place in Travis’ $6 million mansion, but Ed has confirmed that the most recent chapter of their romance, which took place close to the sportsman’s residence in Lee’s Summit Mossouri, actually took place there.
Travis planned to hold off until this week. Taylor [was] getting a little antsy, but he was going to put her off until this week to, you know, create some magnificent things to make it a significant special event,” Ed told News5Cleveland this morning.
When you kneel down on one knee and ask her to marry you, I told him repeatedly, “You know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it anywhere that makes it special.”
Ed revealed that he and Taylor’s father, Scott Swift, were involved in the proposal planning during an interview with The Today Show on Channel Nine’s breakfast program, and that the big reveal actually occurred a few weeks ago.
He added, “He wanted to make it special,” Travis’ mother and Taylor’s parents had all anticipated this. They are “just so happy and good together.” He hasn’t been happier, in my opinion.
Additionally, Ed revealed that the happy couple hasn’t yet decided when to wed. Taylor’s engagement ring is an Old Mine Brilliant Cut, according to the PA news agency, and Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewellery created her jewelry.
Swifties have praised Travis for matching the perfect engagement ring with their idol’s aesthetic and style.
After he failed to meet Taylor when she performed for the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium, Travis announced on his New Heights podcast, which he hosts with his brother Jason, two years ago.
Taylor described her future husband as a “vibe booster” during her appearance on his New Heights podcast earlier this month, which included her announcement of her upcoming album The Life Of A Showgirl, which will be released in October.
The engagement photo was shared on the podcast’s Instagram account, which had a photo of former Philadelphia Eagles player Jason cheering, with the caption “this pretty much sums up everyone’s reaction.”
A clip from the episode in which Travis first addressed Taylor was also reposted on the page. When asked how the concert he attended went, he responded, “Well, I was disappointed that she didn’t speak at either her show because she had to concentrate on the 44 songs she sang.” I was so embarrassed that I didn’t give her one of the bracelets I had made.
He added: “If you’re up on Taylor Swift concerts there are friendship bracelets, and I received a bunch of them, being there, but I wanted to give Taylor Swift one with my number on it.” His brother asked him whether he meant his phone number or his shirt number, 87, to which Travis replied “you know which one”.
In a top hat and tails, Travis helped Taylor prepare for the performance of The Tortured Poets Department section of the show at One of Taylor’s Eras Tour shows at Wembley Stadium on June 23. He arrived on stage as he helped her prepare for the performance of I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.
Taylor changed the lyrics to her song Karma from 2022’s Midnights album from “karma is the guy on the screen coming straight home to me” to “karma is the guy on the Chiefs coming straight home to me,” in reference to Kelce during the Eras Tour.
